Empowering Students Through Humanistic Advocacy

I am a school counselor committed to creating inclusive environments that support students’ academic, social, and emotional development. I earned my Master’s in School Counseling, where I built a foundation in evidence-based practices and comprehensive school counseling. My approach draws on humanistic therapy and motivational interviewing to support student voice, goal-setting, and engagement.

With one year of experience as an acting school social worker, I provided individual and small group counseling, crisis support, and collaboration with families and school teams. My work focused on student advocacy, emotional regulation, and building executive functioning skills to help students access the curriculum. I am committed to ensuring all students have equitable access to their education and the opportunity to pursue postsecondary pathways aligned with their goals.

My Ideal Office Space

My ideal counseling office is welcoming, collaborative, and centered on student comfort. Rather than sitting behind a desk, I sit alongside students at a table to foster connection and shared problem-solving. The space includes a cozy beanbag or couch for self-regulation, warm lighting to create a calm atmosphere, and a bookshelf with resources on empowerment, coping, and mindfulness. A basket of fidgets supports sensory needs, while a discreet drawer offers snacks and essential items like hygiene products. Affirming messages on the walls, such as “you can do hard things,” reinforce resilience and help create a space where students feel supported and empowered.
